Environment
Requirements
- Platform: iPhone / iPod touch. iPad behavior depends on device and OS support.
- OS: current App Store builds target iOS 17 and later.
- Network: required for list refreshes, online article viewing, and ad delivery. Online reading is not available in airplane mode unless a saved snapshot exists.
- Source sites: Wikidot and other source-site layout changes or maintenance may cause temporary display issues or slower loading.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need an account or login?
- No. SCP Docs is designed for browsing without a Wikidot account. Editing articles or posting comments follows each official source site's rules.
- Lists or titles look old / cannot be fetched
- Catalog data is downloaded online and cached on your device. Check your connection, then try refreshing catalogs from Settings or restart the app.
- I want to read offline
- Offline saving is a premium feature. While premium is active, adding an article to bookmarks or read-later, or rating it 4.0 or higher, saves the displayed article HTML on your device. If you are offline, only articles with saved copies can be displayed. Unsaved articles, images, external resources, and catalog updates still require a network connection. Premium can be enabled by a monthly subscription or by completing a rewarded ad unlock.
- I want to remove ads / I see a banner
- Ads are shown during free use. The current implementation uses a bottom banner, inline article ads, native feed ads, and interstitial ads after a configured number of article opens. While monthly premium is active, ads are hidden. If you are not subscribed, watching a rewarded ad from Settings grants temporary premium for 1 hour after completion, up to once per day.
- Where is my data sent?
-
Browsing history, scroll progress, ratings, bookmarks, read-later entries, notes, reading time, offline
HTML snapshots, and rewarded-ad premium expiry are primarily stored on your device. If you are signed in
to iCloud Drive, reading state such as history, read progress, ratings, bookmarks, and read-later lists
may sync through your own iCloud storage. The app is not designed to collect your reading records or
notes on an operator-run server.
Network activity occurs when the app downloads catalog or tag data, displays article bodies from Wikidot or other external sites, checks App Store subscription status, or loads Google AdMob ads. Ad requests are handled by the Google Mobile Ads SDK for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention. If tracking is not authorized, the app sends a non-personalized-ad request. See the Privacy Policy for more detail.

Source content remains authoritative
Rights, official text, author credits, and license notices are governed by each source site. SCP Docs is a reader layer that helps with navigation and personal reading state; it does not replace source-site rules.
