Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how information is handled in the mobile application “SCP Docs” (the “App”). Please read this Policy before using the App. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the App.

3. Overview of information we handle

The App retains on-device state so you can browse and organize articles, and it performs network communications where needed. You are not required to create an account to use the App.

4. Information stored on your device

The following kinds of information may be stored locally on your device (for example in app storage or SwiftData). This supports App features such as history, favorites, read-later, resume reading, ratings, notes, and dashboard displays.

• URLs or normalized keys for articles you viewed, and the order of your browsing history
• Ratings (star scale), scroll progress, and read-state equivalents
• Lists of favorites, read-later entries, bookmarks, and related items
• Auxiliary display data such as cached titles or thumbnail URLs, as implemented
• Notes and session-related records within the scope of features we provide
• Flags and expiry information stored on-device for subscription or rewarded-ad premium status

We do not intend, as part of the App’s design, to systematically collect the above data on a server we operate for the purpose of identifying you personally. If we introduce sync or a backend service in the future, we will update this Policy and notify you within the App where practicable.

5. Network activity

The App may use your network connection for:

• Catalog and list data — Downloading metadata and manifests (e.g., hosted JSON) and caching them on device.
• Third-party website content — Displaying publicly hosted article bodies in an in-app browser (WebKit). Those sites may set cookies or use analytics.
• In-App Purchases — Subscription purchase flows and entitlement checks through Apple; Apple processes purchase information.
• Advertising — Google-provided mobile ads (see below).

6. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob), provided by Google LLC, and may display banner ads, native ads, rewarded ads, and similar formats.

In the course of delivering ads, identifiers such as the advertising identifier, environment information related to your device or ad impressions, may be transmitted to Google and advertising partners for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and related purposes. Depending on iOS Settings, tracking permission dialogs (when applicable), and your ad personalization choices, personalization may be limited.

7. Third-party sites

Much of what you access through the App is hosted on websites operated by third parties. Logging, cookies, analytics scripts, and site-specific terms apply under each operator’s privacy policy. We do not control how third-party sites handle information.

8. Disclosure to third parties and legal requests

In addition to disclosures described above (advertising, payments, delivery infrastructure, and diagnostics offered by OS or App Store mechanisms), we may disclose information where required by law or in response to lawful requests by courts or public authorities.

9. Security

We endeavor to implement reasonable safeguards for the environments in which the App is built and distributed. However, security cannot be guaranteed absolutely on the Internet or mobile devices.

10. Retention

Data stored on-device may persist until you uninstall the App, delete data using in-app controls, or reset the device/OS, as applicable.

11. International transfers

Providers such as Google or Apple may process data in regions outside your country of residence; their respective policies apply.

12. Children

The App is intended for general readers. If you allow a minor to use the App, please do so with appropriate parental supervision.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may change this Policy to reflect legal requirements, App changes, or business needs. Updates will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, surfaced in the App. Continued use after changes may constitute acceptance under applicable law.
